There were a number of reasons why Bruce chose the area where the Transepts intersect with the Nave. Firstly, from the practical perspective there are excellent structural opportunities to suspend an almost invisible wire matrix that will span this whole area. Secondly, this space is central to the building, midway between congregation and clergy. This central location is an ideal space to create an installation that can act as a unifying link to other breath-taking features of the building. Thirdly he wanted to create something that had a gentle ethereal quality without gimmick or glitz. Bruce hoped that the cascading shower of light, will act as a conduit and encourage both visitors and worshipers to see this wonderful building in a new light and really appreciate where they are.
